From Short Hills, New Jersey then Devon, Pennsylvania she came to Cape Cod in 1976 and Graduated at Chatham High School. That year a career in photography began at Kelsey Airviews in Chatham. (the late Richard Kelsey was a well known portrait, wedding and aerial photographer serving the Cape for 40 years!) After almost 9 years there, and having traveled abroad for a semester and earning an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Cape Cod Community College, she left Kelsey's and had the first of 4 children.
In 1986 Susan was employed at Colby Photo Supply in Hyannis selling camera equipment and serving local customers and studios from around the country with print retouching and restoration (done the old fashioned way- by hand!) Clemence Photography began 3 years later in 1989, now specializing in weddings and location portraiture on Cape Cod. Susan continues to offer Colleague's instruction in print retouching through the professional associations.
Susan has been an active member of the local(PPOCC) and national(PPA) professional associations, and served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Professional Photographers of Cape Cod association in 1993/94. Her images have been published inside and on the covers of recent issues of- Cape Cod Bride, and Cape Cod Life magazines. Susan is married and lives in East Harwich.
